How to Make Chocolate Covered Mangoes

January 21, 2016 by Ulla Leave a Comment

Cut mango along the seed. Make two pieces with skin on

Cut flesh into squares 20x20mm. Do not cut into skin

Press on skin to make the mango square pop up

Use only high quality dark cooking chocolate 60% or more

Did you know that chocolate comes from cocoa, which comes from the beans of the cacao tree?

Break chocolate into pieces

If your mum and dad are helping you tell them to keep their fingers off the chocolate

Create a bain marie (A bain-marie is a water bath. It is a type of heated bath and the chocolate is heated gently and gradually to fixed temperatures).

Put water in a pot. Place a stainless steel bowl resting on top of the pot like a lid would do. Put chocolate pieces in bowl and bring water to simmer. When the chocolate is melted you can start covering the mangoes.

Put each mango square on a skewer and with a tablespoon you pour chocolate over the mango. Make sure you hold the mango over the bowl or you will drop a lot of chocolate on the carpet. Next thing Rudi the Rooster will be scratching the carpet and send chocolate flying and shit will hit the fan.

Let excess chocolate drip into bowl. When finished dripping place the chocolate covered mango on a piece of baking paper on a plate. Place in fridge to harden the chocolate.

Eat when you fell like it.

Happy cooking kids
