My Bird Eye Chilli Beanie

January 21, 2016 by Ulla

I love to work with natural fibres and this “Bird Eye Chilli” beanie represents the kind of work I am indulging in at the moment.

I like fluffy bits and pieces sticking out here and there. It brings life to the beanie and it also attracts birds from all over the world. Not only two legged and arms ones but also those which fly around with wings. Birds come along and pull out fibres for nest building.

Being a “Bird Eye Chilli” beanie it will also attract the Bower Bird. The Bower Bird loves to de-worm themselves on chillies and at the same time take in the power of the orange colour.

Orange is the colour of joy and wisdom. It supplies us with plenty of energy and creates an alert mind. It is the colour of the Sun. Because orange is a mix of powerful red and wilful yellow, it combines physical energy with mental wisdom. Power and will ignite together to create an explosion of strength, self esteem and vitality. Orange has a freeing action upon the body and mind, relieving depressions. It is warming, cheering and non-constricting. It is optimism and confidence, feeling safe and secure. Orange encourages us to be more sociable and outgoing. It is linked to and will activate, stimulate and energize the Sacral Chakra. It is linked to our emotional health and to the muscular system of the body. It is a creative colour as it opens our mind to new things, it is freedom and fun. It is luck and success.

I have mixed my hand spun woollen yarns, Angora rabbit and silk with hand dyed commercial silk ribbon/yarns and silk fabric strips. It gives texture and breaks the textile surface. Also it brings out a smile on the face and it is wonderful to see people smiling.

Have a most wonderful Beanie Festival.
