I got hooked on Natural Dyes in 1978. I still love it. I am impressed by nature and the way nature provides all we need. I used Pomegranate, brown onion skin and purple carrot for this recipe. Slice Pomegranate and soak in water overnight. Boil for 20 minutes together with brow onion skin. Cool the bath. Layer and wrap wet silk fabric, wool fabric and yarns, maybe a few doilies around a small poly pipe. Add the sliced purple carrot in between layers. Tie the fabric “parcel” to keep carrot in place. Add ½ tea spoon of alum to the dye bath. Bring water to 90 degrees C for 20 minutes. Leave “parcel” in pot to cool overnight. You can also add rusty bottle tops and nails to the dye pot or even wrap it in the fabric for interesting effect. Make sure you tie the fabric together so that the … [Read more...] about Natural Dyes

It is nice with guidance when it comes to cooking
It is nice with guidance when it comes to cooking. Some people find great inspiration and help looking through cook books. Other people watch cooking shows on telly. There are plenty of food magazines out there to suit every taste. Peder has a special friend who inspire and guides him in the kitchen. The Wardrobe of King Neptune and Moon Goddess Johanne
Take a close look at this beautiful collection of wearable art. This collection is an inspiration from the very tip of Denmark where the two seas meet, Skagerak and Kattegat. It is an inspiration from deep in the sea where only very few sea creatures travel to such as Mermaids, Opochtli the God of fishing from the Aztec mythology and Nehalennia from the Norse mythology, Goddess of the North Sea. Johanne’s hat and shell necklace symbolises her Moon energy. The hat is moon shaped and white. The Green colours of her robe symbolises her adobe where she meets with King Neptune in the deep of the ocean surrounded by seaweed and sea polyps. The green netting on her robe and the fishing net in her hat is a symbol of her attachment and entanglement with the King. King Neptune’s head … [Read more...] about The Wardrobe of King Neptune and Moon Goddess Johanne
